What the festival is

The town describes Sounds Like Collierville as a free, family-friendly bluegrass and Americana music festival. It debuted in 2025 and drew more than 6,000 people to the Town Square, the town says. The 2026 edition carried a 250th anniversary theme, “Celebrating 250 Years Through Song,” exploring the role music has played in the American story, with support from the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial.

How the 2026 festival ran

The three days, as the town published them:

  • Thursday, April 23: an opening program of live music and storytelling about 250 years of American popular music, with Bailey Bigger, Wyly Bigger, Andy Ratliff and Mark Edgar Stuart.
  • Friday, April 24: the 27th annual Collierville Square Bluegrass and Old Time Music Jam. Bring an instrument or just a chair. Kelly Hunt and Sara Morgan played at 7 p.m. and the Tennessee Tradition at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 25: a classic car show from 10 a.m. to noon, then a full day of music in the gazebo from 10 a.m. Derek Sellers, a 2026 Tennessee Songwriters Week finalist, played at 5:30 p.m., Gia Welch and JD Westmoreland at 6 p.m., and the Jim Hurst Band closed at 7 p.m. The town notes Hurst is a two-time International Bluegrass Music Association guitar player of the year.

Free workshops

On the Saturday, free workshops for all skill levels ran at the Depot Visitors Center, the train car and the gazebo: guitar, a songwriters circle, mandolin, dulcimer, fiddle and harmony singing, plus a Kids Appalachian Dance Party at 12:30 p.m. in the gazebo. Bring your instrument, the town says, or sit and watch.
