Collierville-Arlington Road is closed at the Wolf River bridges until fall 2027. Plus East Poplar flaggers, nightly I-269 lane closures and Shelby Drive.

Last checked Oct. 19, 2026. This page is refreshed weekly. Facts come from the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s West Tennessee construction bulletin for Oct. 14 to 21, 2026 and the Town of Collierville’s Shelby Drive update, Collierville-Arlington Road plan, road condition survey notice, library construction notice and FY27 budget announcement.

The biggest closure in Collierville this fall is on Collierville-Arlington Road (State Route 205): the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) closed the bridges over the Wolf River and the Wolf River overflow, between Shelton Road and the Wolf River Greenway trail entrance, on Sept. 8, 2026, to replace them. TDOT expects the road to stay closed there until fall 2027, with detours posted. For live conditions on state roads, use TDOT SmartWay or dial 511.

State projects in and around Collierville

TDOT’s West Tennessee bulletin for Oct. 14 to 21 lists these jobs on the roads Collierville drivers use most:

Road Work What drivers see
SR 205 (Collierville-Arlington Road), Shelton Road to the Wolf River Greenway entrance Bridge replacement over the Wolf River and the overflow Closed since Sept. 8, 2026, until fall 2027, detours posted

TDOT also warns that daytime or nighttime lane closures can pop up anywhere in its 21-county West Tennessee region for repairs. Elsewhere in Shelby County, the same bulletin lists nightly lane closures on I-40, I-240 and I-55 in Memphis, nightly right-lane closures on westbound I-40 in Fayette County between mile markers 31.5 and 29 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 19-23, and the widening of Lamar Avenue (SR 4) south of Shelby Drive, where the speed limit is cut to 45 mph.

Town projects

Shelby Drive Improvements Project. The town’s July update said Shelby Drive was closed to through traffic from Collierville High School’s eastern driveway to Quinn Road while crews built a culvert for the bridge near Quinn Road. It set out three phases:

  • Phase 1, before Aug. 5: the section in front of the high school and Fire Station 6 finished, with the eastern school driveway open.
  • Phase 2, mid-to-late September: two-way traffic was expected to open from the eastern school driveway to Quinn Road, on the new eastbound lanes. (Quinn Road to U.S. 72 was already open both ways.) The town’s website could not be reached for this check, so we could not confirm whether that section has opened. Call the Engineering Division at 901-457-2340 before you rely on it.
  • Phase 3, end of December 2026: the whole four-lane, median-divided road, with sidewalks and new signals, scheduled to be finished, weather permitting.

Collierville-Arlington Road “road diet.” The town’s June plan had TDOT restriping the corridor, from the week of June 22, to one lane each way with a center turn lane and a 35 mph speed limit, followed in early July by town-paid shoulder cross-hatching, bike lane markings and signs. The town says the road carries 6,200 to 8,800 vehicles a day, well under the 20,000 a three-lane road can handle, since I-269 opened in October 2018. Curbs, medians and walking paths are planned for later phases as money allows.

Coming in the FY27 budget: Wolf River Boulevard trail and sidewalk improvements ($3.47 million), Downtown Drainage Phase V ($1.62 million) and about 11 more lane miles of street paving a year, paid for by a new $5 monthly street fee. A contractor’s camera vans have been recording the condition of every town-maintained road to update the town’s paving plan.

Halle Park and the library. Part of Halle Park around the Burch Library is fenced off and closed for the library expansion, scheduled to be finished in spring 2028.
