Safety on the night
From the FDA’s Halloween food safety advice:
- Eat first. Give children a light meal or snack before they go out, and have them wait until they get home to eat their candy.
- Wrapped treats only. Tell children not to accept or eat anything that is not commercially wrapped, and check wrappers for tears, pinholes or odd colors.
Other steps:
- Look up registered sex offenders near your route on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s sex offender registry.
- Walk on sidewalks, cross at corners and carry a flashlight.
- Report anything suspicious to Collierville police at 901-853-3207, or 911 in an emergency.
