An inspector ordered Bangkok Alley closed Oct. 29 after a score of 64. Collierville's other 33 routine October inspections scored 86 to 100. Every score.

A health inspector ordered Bangkok Alley, the Thai and sushi restaurant at 2150 W. Poplar Ave., to stay closed after a routine inspection Thursday scored it 64 out of 100.

The inspector’s report for the Oct. 29 visit (PDF) says the restaurant must remain closed until every item listed on the report has been corrected. It also says pest control must provide “a thorough report, indicating what services and procedures were implemented.”

It was the lowest food inspection score at a Collierville address in October. The other 33 routine inspections in town that month scored between 86 and 100.

What the Bangkok Alley report records

The report marks 15 items out of compliance. Among them, the inspector recorded:

  • roaches “crawling inside of cucumbers, fish, eggs, mushrooms, and other toppings” in the prep cooler; the manager was told to throw out the affected food
  • dead roaches on the walls, and a black ceiling tile over a prep station
  • cooked noodles held at 68 degrees on a prep counter, and white rice at 69 degrees
  • chicken delivered that morning left out at room temperature to thaw
  • no probe thermometers in the kitchen
  • deeply cut cutting boards, unlabeled seasonings, and onions and rice stored on the floor

The report lists 25 pounds of food as embargoed. It also notes that hand washing was observed and that raw animal foods were separated as required.

The restaurant’s last routine inspection, on April 15, 2026, scored 91, the state’s inspection portal shows. As of Sunday, the portal showed no follow-up inspection since Oct. 29. A score describes one visit only. Bangkok Alley can send a response through our contact page, and we will add it here.

What it means for you

  • Look up any restaurant on the Tennessee Department of Health portal before you go. Open the report, not just the score.
  • Check the date and the type. A routine score and a follow-up score are not the same thing.
  • Report a problem through the state’s restaurant complaint form or call the Shelby County food safety program at 901-222-9158.

Our restaurant inspections guide explains how scores work. For where to eat, see where to eat in Collierville and sushi and Asian restaurants.
