Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026. Collierville’s town offices and the Burch Library close Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27. Only Thursday’s trash routes move, to Friday. Schools are out all week. The holiday season starts on the Town Square two days early, with the Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and the first Christmas in Collierville Saturday follows on Nov. 28.

  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday garbage, recycling and commercial collection runs as regularly scheduled.
  • Thursday’s garbage, recycling and commercial collection moves to the day after: Friday, Nov. 27.
  • No appliance pickup on Thursday, Nov. 26. The next appliance pickup is Thursday, Dec. 3.

Tree lighting. The Town of Collierville’s events page lists the tree lighting on the Town Square for Tuesday, Nov. 24: hot chocolate at 5:30 p.m., the tree lit at 7 p.m. and Santa in the gazebo until about 8 p.m., with no rain date, its calendar listing says. The town says the full Christmas in Collierville lineup comes out Monday, Nov. 2. More on our Christmas parade and tree lighting page.

Turkey trot. We found no Thanksgiving race in Collierville. The nearest is the Memphis Turkey Trot at Shelby Farms Park, starting at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, with a 4-mile course and a 2-mile relay. Organizer Start 2 Finish says it draws more than 2,000 people and benefits the Campbell Clinic Foundation; register on its page.

Shop Small Saturday. Main Street Collierville holds Shop Small Saturday on the square on Nov. 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Collierville Schools has professional development days on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23-24 (students out) and the Thanksgiving break Wednesday to Friday, Nov. 25-27. Students return Monday, Nov. 30.
